Since we last met here a lot of things have happened. Last Friday we received Chloe's new teacher's name in the morning and later that day we were able to preview the classroom and actually meet the new teacher. The teacher seemed very nice and Chloe who still appeared very nervous when we got there, left in a much better state of mind(I think). We got to see a few of her little friends that she didn't get to see over the summer and things were looking good for Monday. First day of second grade!
Today marks the conclusion of the first full week. They are running a shortened schedule so the teachers can do their scheduled reading assessment with the kids and next week is more of the same. After that it becomes all day, every day(except "wacky" Wednesday which is always a shortened day. So far I believe it's taking it's toll on both myself and Chloe as we didn't really make much of an effort as summer was winding down to go to bed a little earlier or maybe get up a little earlier in anticipation of this schedule. Whoops. Last year I would say we were lucky with her scheduled start time being 9:20 as we could still basically get up around 815 or so and have plenty of time to be ready and out the door. Right now, I am tired. Chloe popped out of bed on Monday and Tuesday, she was awake and poking me in the face before my alarm was even set to go off. Wednesday, I had to wake her up and she was dead to the world. The excitement had already worn off. LOL. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty tired as well and I'm certainly going to have to make the effort to go to bed earlier as well.
So far, so good I would say. Chloe's teacher for the past 14 years has been a Kindergarten teacher(same school) and this will be her first year dealing with 2nd graders. Everybody might be in for a fun surprise. =P Just a few pics from last week as well as the first day. SECOND. GRADE. I can't believe it. It's all happening too fast.
Have a great weekend, folks~
