Last Day(s) Of Summer! - Aug 11

Once again, just like that, Summer ends. =(

Today is the last Friday before the first Monday back at school. Next up, 2nd grade. I'm not going to lie, it has been a task this summer to keep things interesting for Chloe. Unfortunately for her I've had to drag her along to do all the shopping each week which actually this year she was much more interested in and much more helpful than years past. As weird as it might sound, I will totally miss having her along in the coming weeks and months while I do these seemingly simple and boring weekly tasks by myself again. Like I said, I have tried the best I can to find things to entertain Chloe throughout the week..although I can admit there have been plenty of hours passed simply by reading books and watching movies at home but hey, those are things she likes to do. There have also been countless hours spent swimming or visiting grandparents or playing with various other friends and that's not even scratching the surface of random and exciting things we did as a family. I do feel like we managed to cram quite a bit in a short amount of time that was our summer break. Today, however, it all comes to a close.

We had a pretty low key week but this week Chloe has been a bit emotional while having a few behavioral malfunctions which after a few time outs and some long conversations I believe can be attributed to her being nervous about going back to school. Probably more than that I really think she isn't ready for summer to be over. I get it. I mean, I didn't get it until we talked through it, but I definitely get it now. I think once we go visit the school and see some of her friends, she'll be ready to go back.

Earlier in the week we had made plans to go to doughnuts on Thursday morning with my friend Todd and his son. After this kind of weird week we've been having I decided it might be a good day to try to blow Chloe's mind with a final little daddy-daughter day...our last opportunity to revisit some of her favorite things that we have done this summer together and hopefully cheer her up. The day started with Doughnuts of course and after that Chloe and I went to the park to play some basketball. After a while of that I offered to take Chloe to lunch and she could choose anywhere she wanted. I had a feeling she would pick "Lou's" which is what we call my friend Lou's Mexican Restaurant (Taqueria Azteca in Dublin) and she did! We went there next and she had her "usual". Bean, cheese, and rice burrito and I did our usual thing....They call the order, I go pick up the food and when I sit down I put down whatever I ordered in front of Chloe and I put her little burrito in front of me. She laughs and we swith plates and have lunch. LOL.

After lunch we made a trip back home for a little bit to unwind. It hasn't been super hot but Chloe expressed that she would like to go swimming. I'll be honest, I'm not typically super excited to swim. It's just not really my thing I guess but Chloe of course loves it so, we went. The water was cold but of course I got in and for about an hour we had the entire pool completely to ourselves. I know Chloe appreciated it.

As if that wasn't enough, Heather came home a bit early so we had a quick dinner and decided to head out to the "Hot Danville Nights" downtown car show. I didn't bring my camera actually lol but also My parent's weren't there with my Dad's car as they usually are(because Thursday was their wedding anniversary so they were elsewhere doing something more fun, I'm sure) and that concluded our fun little day of random things

PHEW. A long day to end what felt like a short summer and today(Friday) we will learn who Chloe's teacher will be and get a chance to go find the classroom and see a few familiar faces as we roll into our last weekend before School actually starts. Time is flying and once again here are just a few pictures to share. Have a great weekend, folks~~
