Happy Thanksgiving, 2017! - Nov 24

4U4A1658chloeblog-100_Proof

Our full week without school rolls to a close with another "Black Friday" which only means one thing: yesterday was Thanksgiving! That's a weird way to look at it. LOL.
Thanksgiving this year turns out to be a mutli-day event for us of which we spent the actual Thanksgiving day with Heather's family and it looks like tomorrow we will spend with mine. We all continue to have a lot to be thankful for and this year is no exception. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving whatever you ended up doing. Please whatever you do take my advice, do not go out shopping today. Hello AMAZON. =)

Have a great weekend, folks~~

Glow In The Dark Chloe! - Nov 17

4U4A0315chloeblog-104_Proof

This week started out with Chloe getting hit with a pretty significant cold so there were definitely at least a couple days spent around here watching movies and laying low. The entire week turned out to be pretty low key as we have started to get a few days of rainy weather mixed in as well.

Chloe brought home a couple of random little things that were apparently part of a "bonus gift" Chloe got for something she did at school(I'm not clear on what). The first thing broke right away and the remaining things were these little finger lights. I thought they might be be cool to use in some pictures. Turns out, kinda difficult. LOL. As the week draws to a close, Chloe is feeling much better as we prepare for Thanksgiving next week and the thing I keep forgetting, no school! Happy Friday.

Have a great weekend, folks~

The Glass House! - Nov 10

20171108chloeblog-FJ7C7831_Proof

This week on Wednesday I was able to be a parent chaperone/driver for Chloe's first class field trip as a 2nd grader. The whole class was transported from their school on a short trip to a place that if you are from the area you have probably driven by and wondered about it. In San Ramon(right off San Ramon Valley Blvd) seemingly planted in the middle of nowhere there is a white picket fence surrounding a pristine looking Victorian home. This home is known as "The Glass House" which, as the woman explained on the tour, makes people think perhaps it was named that because of something to do with the actual glass in the home when in fact it has everything to do with the last name of the family that lived there. The home is adjacent to a large farming property and actually the home was previously moved(and then restored) in it's entirety from a completely different part of San Ramon to it's current location back in 1998 or 1999. Basically, it's a home that belonged to a family that was originally more or less where it is now way before San Ramon was the gigantic city that it has become. I actually really enjoyed the tour and learned things that I'm sure I could have looked up online but where is the fun in that?

The class was split in half and while half the class did the inside tour, the other half stayed outside and learned about chores of the time period as well as some games that the children of that time might have played for fun. The kids had some practice sweeping the porch as well as beating the dust out of the rugs and brushing sheep(not actual sheep). All of the kids seemed to really enjoy everything but the thought of not having an Ipad certainly seemed to upset a few of them. LOL.

The inside tour started out with the boys and girls dressing up in some "period correct" clothing (except for the hats over fear of spreading lice) and the kids got a kick out of that. We then went room to room from the parlor to the kitchen to the bedrooms where we learned about exciting things such as the actual "ice box" and the kids favorite thing, the "chamber pot". If you're not sure what that is, google it. =P

An interesting trip and I think the kids actually enjoyed it. There certainly were a few nutty kids in the group but overall it's amazing the difference over AND of the Kindergarten field trips we took. LOL.

Just a few snaps from the day. Have a great weekend, folks~

Jeepers, Halloween! - Nov 3

20171029chloeblog-FJ7C7265_Proof

Less than 24 hours before Halloween and Chloe decides she is going to change her entire costume. True story.

On Monday I actually went with a few friends to a car event all day and I got a text from Heather I didn't fully understand but something to the effect that Chloe wanted to change her costume. My response was essentially it's to late to change her costume but from there I figured I wasn't going to be home in time to say one way or the other and if she wanted to handle it, go for it. LOL.

Over the last few months Chloe has been really into the old Scooby-Doo cartoons and I guess she got the idea to put together a Daphne costume. Purple dress, pink tights, and a quick trip to Hobby Lobby with mom for some material to make a scarf and a headband and bam, DAPHNE! Heather thought I was going to be mad that she changed her costume but honestly, I was pretty impressed that they were able to pull off such a cool homemade costume using mostly stuff we already owned. =)

Halloween is always a crazy day for us. Heather gets off work and we basically rush out the door to go swing by both grandparents and then meet up with some friends so Chloe can go trick-or-treating with other kids. This year Chloe apparently graduated from a little candy bowl to a pillow case. I'm not sure where she got that idea from but she was pretty set on using a pillow case. Maybe she saw older kids doing that, I'm not sure. Either way, it was a good time and she definitely got more candy than any kid needs(or is going to be allowed to consume). =P Just some pics from our trip to the pumpkin patch and the events that took place on Halloween.

Have a great weekend, folks~
