Frosty! - Dec 6

20131129Chloeblog-FJ7C7254

Thanksgiving ends and almost immediately we start counting days until Christmas! I have done very little shopping so far(but I have, lol) and for those who know me know that I am not the best holiday shopper. Wish me luck. =)

Last weekend we spent some time after putting up some Christmas decorations at home and Chloe could not have been more excited. It's super cute she basically had been asking me for days to pull down the Christmas tree and the boxes of decorations and ornaments so once they were out she wasted no time with them. We have also accumulated a couple of new ornaments this year(so far)for Chloe which she is excited about as well. With the unpacking of the Christmas junk comes the reappearance of good old Frosty The Snowman. I forgot how much Chloe was into that last year and lucky for her we recorded the super old TV cartoon last year(and never deleted it) and she wanted right away to watch it. She has carried around this stuffed snowman all over the house and has slept with it in her bed now for a week. =)
Have a great weekend.

I Want Pumpkin Pie! (Happy Thanksgiving) Nov 29

20131128Chloe-FJ7C7063

And just like that, it's Thanksgiving.

This year we all certainly have things to be thankful for. My brother and his wife, Paula, have a whole new reason to be thankful..their baby girl Peyton! Chloe's first cousin and soon to be junior partner in crime came down for a visit and we spent our Thanksgiving visiting them and my family. My dad apparently has started a new Thanksgiving tradition of cooking a turkey on the (charcoal) BBQ while my mom wants to make her turkey the more "traditional" way so there is certainly no shortage of turkey! Personally, I could eat this BBQ turkey every day and It's a tradition I hope sticks around. LOL. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving however you spent it as we now start the downward spiral of craziness leading up to...CHRISTMAS! ACK!
Have a great weekend, folks. =)

Big Girl Bed(room) - Nov 22

20131121Chloe-FJ7C4242

I have to say I think we might win the prize for being able to hold out the longest of any of our friends when it comes to moving Chloe from a crib to a bed. We really lucked out in the fact that Chloe NEVER tried to climb out of her crib. Then, we converted her crib into a "toddler bed" with some parts we bought when we bought the crib that basically has an opening in the front so she could get in and out but still basically had her using the same crib mattress. The 3rd and final step was to convert her crib into an actual bed with the conversion parts we also purchased when we bought the crib. Little did I expect that she would be essentially graduating into a bed our entire family could sleep comfortably in, lol. I pulled the parts down from the garage but until the mattress actually showed up, I had no idea how big a "full" bed was.

Heather and I also decided after almost 4 years of the same colors in Chloe's room it was time for a repaint. Originally we went with a soft, two tone green that can be seen in many photos over the years and while we liked it at first, we felt like Chloe had out grown it. Chloe LOVES purple. Basically, when we asked her what color she would want her "new" room to be, we knew she would choose purple and she did. In a cruel twist of irony, purple was the OTHER choice we were picking between when we originally were deciding to paint her room. We flipped a coin and chose two tone green over two tone purple and almost 4 years later to the day, I was repainting the room essentially the exact color we skipped the first time around. The world is funny that way and sometimes things just work themselves out. =P

So with a little elbow grease, some paint brushes and some furniture rearrangement Chloe has now moved in to her "big girl" room. It's so funny because she just takes up a little tiny portion of the bed but she really seems to like it! She likes making her bed in the morning and once again to our complete dumb luck, she stays in her bed even when she wakes up and waits for us to come in and get her. She's growin up fast! Have a great weekend. =)

The Dentist - Nov 15

Johnson_Proof_0197

Well it would seem appropriate right after Halloween to take Chloe to see the dentist, right? Well no, but it would be a funny story if we did that. We actually took Chloe a couple weeks ago to the dentist for the first time for a cleaning and general check up. I have been going to the same dentist since I was Chloe's age and in fact recently when I was there for a cleaning my dentist was reading me notes from my file from when I was 4 years old. It said something about how I would not stop crying, LOL!! Great. Well we decided to take Chloe to my dentist so funny how things come full circle only we knew that Chloe was not going to have any problems...or we hoped so I shouold say. We have been telling her for a long time about the dentist and about how they will be checking all her teeth and looking in her mouth. That combined with the fact that we brush or make her brush her teeth religiously and we have since she had her first tooth. As predicted, Chloe was a superstar. She was smiling and talking, followed directions perfectly, and pretty much surprised all of us with how well she did. Even the lady who did the cleaning couldn't belive how well she did. I have heard some horror stories from other people with kids and taking them to the dentist so I will mark our experience in the "win" collumn. =) Both Heather and I did not ever need braces so one can only hope we are so lucky with Chloe. Anyway, here are a few pics from our trip to the dentist. Exciting, I know, but as parents there are only so many "firsts" we get. Have a great weekend!

I Need My Wig! - Nov 8

Chloe_halloween-122

The decision for a 3 year old is easy but the first teenage boy that comes to this house is getting an entire bowl of candy. LOL

As promised, I did want to share a few more images from Halloween. Halloween fell on a Thursday and as luck would have it Chloe had school and I was scheduled to work in the classroom that day. The kids were instructed to come to school in costume and parents could stay for the first maybe fifteen minutes the kids did a "parade" around the back yard in their costumes. Then, in a flash they had the kids change out of their costumes and that was that. LOL. Actually, we set up various stations inside and out with games and fun things for the kids to do for the entire rest of the class. A crafty mom made some really neat snacks for the kids and generally all the kids had a blast..and NO CANDY! =)

That night, we got Chloe into her costume and made a few stops starting with our super nice neighbor, Diane. Our neighborhood has basically no kids and no reason anyone would trick or treat but Diane wanted to see Chloe and she was of course ready with a special treat just for her. She is such a nice lady and literally the luckiest we could have gotten to have a new neighbor move in. Then it was over to visit the grandparents before we met up with our friends to wander their neighborhood with all the kids. The night started and ended with me having a stomach ache and ended with the same thing but I figured I would tough it out so I could go with them trick or treating. I knew I would regret staying home more than going out, so away we went.

Have a great weekend, folks~

Rapunzel - Nov 1

Well, it's halloween. Last week after we got back from our trip, Chloe ended up getting really sick. some kind of flu bug she actually threw up at school unexpectedly and they had to send her home. Fortunately(or unfortunately) Heather was off and decided to stay that morning to see what happens at the school. Then, just when Chloe was on the mend wouldn't you know it, Heather gets knocked down by what seems to be the same thing. I knew all week it was only a matter of time before something got me. Happy Halloween! I feel like crap. I can't mess around with making a long blog post so next week I will share some photos of our Halloween experience. Hope you had fun whatever you did. Have a great weekend!
