T-minus 10 more days left of summer. As usual as quickly as it began, it will end. Last year we kind of closed out our summer with a Disneyland trip and to be honest, as this summer has progressed it seemed less and less likely that we could repeat that again. Disneyland, it all it's wisdom, decided this year to 100% block out annual passholders (below a certain level) from entering "Disneyland" however we were still allowed to visit Disneyland "California Adventure" park. I honestly cannot remember if this information was known when we bought our passes but in the last 6+ years that we have been passholders, this has never been the case. Anyway, long story short, Heather got a week off and we decided to take the ride and see what we could find to do just limiting ourselves to one park(arguably the less popular park). There was an option we had to purchase a discounted 1 day ticket to enter Disneyland but after a day of monitoring the wait times, we opted not to take that "deal". LOL.
We spread out our time in the park and with lower than average crowds, we managed to do everything we wanted to do(multiple times) without feeling like we had to rush around. The weather was warm but not face melting hot like it was last year although we managed to slip in a few indoor/air conditioning friendly attractions. It was a nice opportunity to see things that we don't normally try to experience such as the "Animation Academy" where we went back to back learning how to draw "Jack Skellington" from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and then "Goofy" from...Disney..cartoons. LOL.
This trip as I mentioned we did some attractions we don't usually do. One of those things that we have avoided altogether is the GIANT ferris wheel type ride formerly named "Mickey's Fun Wheel" now called the "Pixar Pal-A-Round". There are two options you can choose from, swinging or non-swinging gondola and it means what you think it means. If you are afraid of heights I would not suggest you do either(lol) however we started by trying the "non-swinging" side. Chloe quickly decided she wanted to try the "swinging" version...which we did..at night. To say it was unexpected how much this thing would swing...I can't even describe to you how hard I was laughing while Chloe screamed with excitement and Heather screamed FOR HER LIFE. =) We did(at Chloe's request) ride it several more times over the course of the few days we were there and eventually we learned it wasn't going to kill us. I'm not sure I can recommend it to anyone however Chloe LOVED it. Oddly, she claims it was her favorite ride of the trip. There's no going back, now. We will be seeing that thing again, I'm sure of it.
As usual, I just wanted to put together some photos from the trip of things we saw or did as well as just some general Disneyland detail photos that I enjoy taking. As we round third and head for home the conclusion of summer is near.
Have a great weekend, folks~
