Chloe is now officially 9 years(and 3 days) old! Her birthday this year fell on a Tuesday but not just any Tuesday. Her birthday Tuesday happened to fall on the first day back to school after a long winter break, lol.
Last week Heather had some days off and as we typically have done we kicked around the idea of going to Disneyland for Chloe's birthday. The parks have traditionally hold over their holiday theme and Christmas decorations into the first week of January so naturally a year or two ago they decided if you had an annual pass that those days would be BLOCKOUT days(unless you purchased the most expensive pass, which we did not have). We actually let our passes expire back in October had not yet decided if we would renew another year..or let's face it we definitely wanted to but it's just gotten more and more expensive.
Anywho, we didn't have a hotel booked or a plan to get in but somehow on Thursday morning with a randomly available room with a discount and a set of grandparents willing to watch our dog for a few days, we threw together a car full of stuff and hit the road. As much as I am not a fan or last minute stuff, I figured we have done this trip enough times that it really should be fine. As luck would have it, everything really did work out in our favor. The weather Friday was perfect, sunny and low 70s with a jacket required by the evening and Saturday was, well, not as nice. Saturday was cloudy all day with a chance of rain that became a reality around 5 o'clock. It rained lightly and many guests bought ponchos and pressed on however I'd say an equal number of people just left the parks. The rain stopped and we got in a few more good hours before it would return buy by then we were back in the room. Could not have asked for a better scenario all things considered.
So while it technically was not Chloe's actual birthday yet, that was the point of the trip. Chloe, just a few days shy of 9 years old, absolutely detested the idea of us bringing the stroller once again but we brought it and she used it the entire time to easily transport from place to place. It can look as weird as it looks but the fact is it works and don't judge. LOL. We did not focus in particular on any one thing but we managed to ride all of the favorites(except Matterhorn) and get a few character photos, etc. Overall a solid trip that literally almost didn't happen.
Because Chloe had to go back to School on Tuesday we have sort of been celebrating her birthday all week which lets face it, ain't a bad deal. =) As usual a collection of photos from the trip of the things we saw and did. Oh, and if you're wondering about the weird thing on Chloe's shoulder for half the photos, that is a magnetic "baby Groot" from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" gift shop. Not sure what the appeal is but we got asked about it probably 20 times and saw lots of people with them so, it's a thing.
Happy 9th Birthday to our beautiful and (mostly) sweet, caring and smart little Chloe. 6 more years until a drivers licence, kiddo.
Have a great weekend, folks~
