Marble Madness! - Feb 12

Over the last few weeks, Chloe has become extremely interested in something I would have never seen coming. Like, never ever.

We went to one of her little school friend's birthday party (at Chuck E Cheese) and as a favor each child got this little wooden treasure chest and inside of it was a small bag of marbles. Chloe, in all her curiosity, wanted to know "what is it that you do with marbles, exactly". I didn't have an answer and as kids these days are likely to do, she asked us to "look it up on google". She has also asked me to look up such things as "how to make a backpack out of paper" and a few other things that basically don't exist but through the miracle of the internet, there are always a few search results that will satisfy her curiosity. We also found that people tend to make long and (in my opinion) extremely pointless youtube videos on just about anything you can think of, including "marble videos", as she calls them now. First we found that you can use a string or something and create a circle and then set the marbles in a pattern and players can "shoot" the marbles and try to knock others out of the circle. I'm sure this is not a new game but it was new to Chloe and we did that quite a bit. Somehow, Youtube has this magic power to continue to play videos that are (at least somewhat) related and suddenly we found ourselves watching a weird video where a kid was doing "marble track" competitions. That was it, Chloe was hooked.

All she wanted to do was watch these marble videos. I can't figure it out, but she loves it. She would come back and basically imitate what the kid was doing, giving the marbles weird names like "blue swirl" and "cats eye yellow". Hey, why not? So after some discussion and some home made solutions, I decided to look into getting a small "marble track" for Chloe to play with. She received some money for her birthday/Christmas so I hopped on Amazon and a few days later, this thing arrived, all 10 million pieces. LOL. We put it together and she has played with it non-stop. It will keep her busy..for a while I'm sure. =)

Have a great weekend, folks~
