This week Chloe's 3rd grade class had their 2nd field trip of the year. As luck would have it, I was able to drive and chaperone again although it was just a few miles down the road. It was actually at a place we have driven by hundreds of times but have never actually been. Last year in 2nd grade the kids get to go to "The Glass House" which is a historic home in San Ramon and this year they get to visit and learn about the farm next door. The weather this week called for torrential downpour and It seemed like we were in for trouble. Both Monday and Tuesday were supposed to bring several inches of rain and all we ended up getting around here was a few showers. The morning of the field trip we completely dodged the rain altogether. WIN.
Once we arrived the kids basically split into two groups and separately went to different parts of the farm learning about various parts of farming life. From tractors to gardening, from churning butter to sewing up socks with holes in them, to canning food for storage to squeezing their own glass of orange juice. The whole thing lasted about 2 hours and the kids all seemed to enjoy the experience and opportunity to be together outside of the school environment. Chloe was also excited because she got to partner up and ride in the car with her little buddy from school, Grifyn. I managed to snap a few photos during the trip while still performing my parenting duties so I figured I would share a few..because that's how I roll.
Have a great weekend, folks~
